Viaje a Australia. Melbourne & The Great Ocean Road

A finales de abril me despedí de mi hogar en Sydney para emprender un viaje de mes y medio antes de llegar a España. La primera parada fue este viaje que véis aquí, donde estuve una semana visitando Melbourne, Phillip Island y la Great Ocean Road.

No es un viaje que requiera demasiada información a consultar antes de hacer el viaje, ya que en  Melbourne tienes montones de puestos de información turísticas en los que consultar los diferentes tours que puedes realizar o mapas de las ciudades e incluso los "hightlights" de la Great Ocean Road.

La mejor manera para disfrutar Great Ocean Road es alquilando un coche para visitar la costa a tu propio ritmo. Si vas con varia gente puedes alquilar una caravana y dormir en ella o dormir en hostales, como fué mi caso. Si viajas sólo, la mejor alternativa es intentar conocer gente en Internet para compartir coche, Couch Surfing es una muy buena web para conocer viajeros, en mi caso me uní a tres ingleses y alquilamos un coche entre 4, por lo que el precio del mismo es mucho inferior al precio viajando sólo, ya que Australia es un país muy caro. Otra opción para recorrer la Great Ocean Road es haciendo un tour en autobús, si buscas en Internet probablemente encontrarás bastantes ofertas, una de las compañías más competitivas económicamente es Wicked Travel.

En total estuve 3 días recorriendo Great Ocean Road, un día en el parque nacional "The Grampians", otro día visitando el centro de Melbourne y un último día recorriendo la Isla Phillip en un tour. En total gasté unos 660 dólares con vuelos de ida y vuelta desde Sydney.

Los precios por noche de los hostales rondaron entre los 25 y los 35 dólares en temporada baja (ya se iba notando el frío, sobre todo en el estado de Victoria). Los vuelos desde Sydney costaron algo menos de $100 ida y vuelta, el tour de un día a Phillip Island vale $110 y el alquiler del coche salió a unos $85 por cabeza con seguro a todo riesgo incluído, gasolina a parte.

EL VIAJE DÍA A DÍA

Día 1. Llegando a Melbourne

I'm officially a homeless! I left my flat this morning and I won't be in a place called home until June 13th. I took a flight to Melbourne this afternoon, where I will spend the rest of the week. I will try to see the Great Ocean Road, Phillips Island and Melbourne City. Today I just had time to have a little walk around the CBD and I must say Melbourne looks a little bit like a desert if you compare it with Sydney, maybe due to its wide streets, I'm not sure. I will keep you up to date with my trip, now I'm off to bed, good night!! :-)

Soy oficialmente un sin techo! Salí de mi piso esta mañana y no voy a estar en un lugar llamado hogar hasta el 13 de junio. Tomé un vuelo a Melbourne esta tarde, donde pasaré el resto de la semana. Voy a tratar de ver la Great Ocean Road, la Isla Phillips y la ciudad de Melbourne. Hoy he tenido un poco tiempo para pasear por el CDB y debo decir que Melbourne se ve un poco desierta comparada con Sydney, tal vez debido a sus amplias calles, no estoy seguro. Ya os mantendré al corriente de mi viaje, ahora me voy a la cama, buenas noches! :-)

Día 2: Comenzando la Great Ocean Road desde Torquay

Another day goes on! I woke up early in the morning to join 3 English people for a road trip, as we have taken a car for four days to ride the Great Ocean Road. Torquay has been our main destiny for the most of the day, is a small town that has a City Surf and a nice walk around the coast. After the walk, we continued driving until Bells Beach, the most famous beach for surfers in Australia. Finally, we have stopped for the night in Anglesea, to sleep in a cute and small backpackers house. Let's see how's going tomorrow! :-P

¡Otro día más! Me levanté temprano esta mañana para unirme a 3 ingleses en un viaje por carretera, hemos alquilado un coche durante cuatro días para recorrer la Great Ocean Road. Torquay ha sido nuestro destino principal durante la mayor parte del día, una pequeña ciudad que tiene una ciudad del surf y un agradable paseo por la costa. Después de la caminata continuamos conduciendo hasta Bells Beach, la playa más famosa para hacer surf en toda Australia. Finalmente, hemos parado para pasar la noche en Anglesea, a dormir en una agradable y pequeña casa para mochileros. ¡A ver cómo va mañana! :-P

Día 3: Avistando koalas y canguros salvajes

Waking up at 6 am to see the sunrise is good, missing it because of the clouds is not good. Today I've continued visiting the Great Ocean Road. We started seeing some kangaroos at the golf club in Anglesea, where there are more than a thousand kangaroos living. After that, we continued driving, stopping at some places like Aireys Inter (where a famous lighthouse is), a small town called Lorne and its beautiful falls 10k inland, and we also stopped in Kennet River to see wild Koalas in a forest... Why are they so cute? I love them! After being enjoying the stunning views along the ocean the whole day, we now in Apollo Bay to stay here for the night. We had enough time to go to the Marines Looking, a mountain where you can see the whole town, and I also saw a big rainbow from there, I don't remember when was the last time I saw another one. Now I'm writing this next to a warm fire in one of the rooms of the hostel, lying in the coach. Let's see what happens tomorrow!

Despertarse a las 6 am para ver el amanecer mola, perdérselo debido a las nubes no mola. Hoy he seguido conociendo la Great Ocean Road, empezamos la mañama viendo canguros en el club de golf de Anglesea, donde hay más de un millar de canguros viviendo. Después de eso seguimos conduciendo haciendo algunas paradas en sitios como Aireys Inter (donde se haya un famoso faro), un pequeño pueblo llamado Lorne y su hermosa catarata 10 km hacia interior de la costa, y también nos detuvimos en el río Kennet para ver koalas salvajes en un bosque ... ¿Por qué son tan adorables? ¡Me encantan! Después de disfrutar de la espectacular carretera a lo largo del océano todo el día hemos llegado a Apollo Bay, donde dormiremos esta noche, pero hemos tenido tiempo suficiente para ir al mirador Mariners Lookout, una montaña desde donde se puede ver toda la ciudad, y también vi un gran arco iris, no recuerdo cuándo fue la última vez que vi otro. Ahora estoy escribiendo esto junto a el calor de un fuego en una de las habitaciones comunes del albergue donde me alojo. ¡Mañana más!

Día 4: Los 12 apóstoles

Yesterday the weather was wonderful! We started driving from Apollo Bay to a little bit inland to see a really old forest, which was a very visited place in the past from the aboriginal people here in Australia. After that, we continued moving along the coast doing some stops at the different lookouts and beaches: the 12 apostols, the arch, London Bridge, and a very famous beach, where I had a lovely and cold swim! (I can't remember the name of the beach). We finished doing the Great Ocean Road in Port Ferry, where we had a barbecue after seeing the sunset. From there, we've driven about two hours inland until a hostel next to the Grampians. There were lots of kangaroos, joeys and wallabies in the road (Joey is the name of the kangaroos when they are babies), sometimes we had to stop to let them cross the road, it's pretty funny how they jump haha. When we got to the hostel, it was bloody cold - 0 degrees outside - and I was with my swimmers!

Ayer el tiempo estuvo genial! Empezamos conduciendo desde Apollo Bay tierra adentro hacia un viejo bosque que en su día era muy visitado por los aborígenes de Australia. Después de ello, continuamos conduciendo a lo largo de la costa haciendo algunas paradas en los diferentes miradores y playas: los 12 apóstoles, el arco, el puente de Londres o una muy famosa playa donde tuve un estupendo y frio baño! (no recuerdo el nombre de la playa). Terminamos la Great Ocean Road en Port Ferry, donde hemos hecho una barbacoa tras ver la puesta de sol. Desde ahí, estuvimos conduciendo más de dos horas hacia un hostal cerca de el parque nacional The Grampians. Durante el camino vi montones de canguros, joey y wallabies (Joey es el nombre del canguro cuando es una cría), incluso tuvimos que parar un par de veces para dejar a los canguros cruzar la carretera. Cuando llegamos al hostal hacia 0 grados afuera, ¡Y yo en bañador!

Día 5: El parque nacional Grampians

"I'm not afraid of falling down, I'm afraid of falling down and die". The Great Ocean Road is over and now I'm in Melbourne again, it was such an awesome trip, as I did it with great people, plus you can be next to the ocean and drive to a big mountain or an old forest in just 20 minutes, which is stunning. Today we've been mainly in the Grampians National Park, hiking one of the main routes. The views were more than amazing once you're in the top of the mountain, and the route had a bit of rock climbing, I loved it! At the end of the day we visited some "aboriginal printings" - I seriously doubt they're the original ones - and after that we just drove back to the city again. Sackboy was grumpy the whole day because I didn't bring him up to the hill with me, I told him he could go there when he grows up hahaha, maybe I'll show him tomorrow Melbourne city :-)

"No tengo miedo de caer, tengo miedo de caer y morir". Terminada la Great Ocean Road, ahora estoy en Melbourne de nuevo. Fue un viaje increíble, con una gente estupenda , puedes estar al lado del océano y conducir a una gran montaña o un bosque viejo en tan sólo 20 minutos, lo cual es increíble. Hoy hemos estado principalmente en el Parque Nacional de Grampians, haciendo senderismo en una de las principales rutas. Las vistas son espectaculares una vez que estás en la cima de la montaña, y la ruta tenía un poco de escalada en roca, me encantó! Al final del día visitamos algunas "pinturas aborígenes" - Tengo serias dudas de que sean las originales - y después de ello nos fuimos a la ciudad de nuevo. Sackboy estaba de mal humor todo el día, porque yo no lo traje hasta la cima conmigo, le he dicho que podrá ir allí cuando sea mayor jajaja, tal vez yo le mostraré mañana Melbourne ciudad :-)

Día 6: Visitando Melbourne CBD

That's the backpacker life, sometimes you meet great people and some others they just wake up in the middle of the night to have a pee in one of the corners of the room. Anyway, today I spent the whole day visiting Melbourne city, I started walking the botanical gardens and then I walked around the CBD, discovering the main streets and some alleys full of graffiti paintings. In the afternoon, I basically have been following the river until the Eureka Skypoint, a lookout in the top 88th floor of the highest building in Melbourne. I stayed there until the sunset and then I stayed for a while taking pictures at night. Now I'm off to sleep, good night to everyone in Australia, and good Saturday to the rest of the world :-P

Así es la vida del mochilero, a veces te encuentras increíble gente y algunas otras te despiertas en medio de la noche para ver como alguien está meando en una de las esquinas de la habitación. En fin, hoy pasé todo el día visitando la ciudad de Melbourne, comencé a caminar los jardines botánicos y luego caminé por el CDB, descubrimiento las principales calles y algunos callejones llenos de pinturas de graffiti. Por la tarde, básicamente he estado siguiendo el río hasta el Eureka Skypoint, un puesto de observación en la planta 88 del edificio más alto de Melbourne. Me quedé allí hasta la puesta de sol y luego estuve por un tiempo haciendo fotos junto al río por la noche. ¡Hora de dormir! Buenas noches a todos en Australia, y buen sábado para el resto del mundo :-P

Día 7: De tour en Phillip Island

7 am, heading to the airport again. Yesterday I did a tour to explore Phillip Island. The highlight, to see the penguins coming to the island from the sea after the sunset. The little penguins are just 30 cm high, the smallest ones of the world. They're so cuuuuute I want to die! Haha. They're really funny, because they come to the beach in big groups and they stop and start looking at everywhere, like foreigners in a new country. After a while, they decide what's they way to follow and go all together inland. By the way I also feed kangaroos and at last I have a pic next to a Koala. Hope my mum had a great day yesterday :-)

7 de la mañana, rumbo al aeropuerto de nuevo. Ayer hice un viaje para explorar Phillip Island. Lo más destacado, ver a los pingüinos que llegan a la isla desde el mar después de la puesta del sol. Los pingüinos miden sólo 30 cm de altura, los más pequeños del mundo. Son tan moooonos quiero morir! Jaja. Son muy divertidos, ya que vienen a la playa en grandes grupos y se detienen y empiezan a mirar a todas partes, como extranjeros en un país nuevo. Después de un tiempo, deciden el camino a seguir y van todos juntos hacia el interior de la isla. Por cierto, también di de comer a canguros y al final ya puedo decir que tengo una foto junto a un koala. Espero que mi madre haya pasado un gran día :-)
